I Declare War, co-directed by Rob Wilson and Jason Lapeyre, is the audience choice award winner at this year’s FantasticFest, it was announced Tuesday.
The film, produced by Patrick Cameron, Lewin Webb and Wilson of Samaritan Entertainment, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September before heading south to the genre fest in Austin, Texas.
I Declare War follows a group of friends whose after-school game of Capture the Flag in the neighbourhood woods takes on a serious tone and pushes the boundaries of their friendships.
The film stars an up-and-coming youth cast, including Gage Munroe, Siam Yu, Mackenzie Munro, Michael Friend and Kolton Stewart.
Lapeyre, who wrote the script, saw another of his films, Cold Blooded, which won best Quebec or Canadian feature at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival and stars Zoie Palmer, also screened at the Austin genre fest.
Moviehouse Entertainment handles international sales for I Declare War, while The Film Sales Company (Andrew Herwitz) handles U.S. sales.
