Rookie Blue begins production on fourth season

Principal photography has begun in Toronto on season four of Rookie Blue, the Canadian primetime cop drama airing on Global in Canada and ABC stateside.

Rookie Blue is Global’s biggest TV success story to date, and we are ecstatic to have season four now in the works,” said Shaw Media SVP content Barb Williams in a statement.

The series stars Missy Peregrym and Gregory Smith, along with Travis Milne, Enuka Okuma, Charlotte Sullivan and Peter Mooney.

Joining the cast for the fourth season are Priscilla Faia (True Justice) and Rachel Ancheril (The Listener).

More than 1.6 million viewers tuned in to the third season premiere episode on May 24 on Global, according to numbers from BBM Canada provided by Shaw Media. And stateside, Rookie Blue in its summer run ranked #1 in total viewers in its Thursday 10 p.m. ABC timeslot, according to a release from Shaw Media.

The series is also broadcast internationally on Universal Networks International’s pay-TV channels.

Rookie Blue is produced by eOne and ICF Films, and exec produced by Tassie Cameron, Ilana Frank (who developed the series as part of a first-look deal with eOne), David Wellington and John Morayniss.
