Tom Radford to get top Alberta screen industry award

Accomplished Alberta docmaker Tom Radford will be honoured for his career accomplishments and support of the screen-industry during a special Alberta Media Production Industries Association event in late October.

“Tom Radford’s impact on Alberta’s media production industry is immense,” said Bill Evans, the association’s executive director, in a story posted on the association’s site Thursday.

In addition to having written, produced and directed films and TV programs for over 40 years, Radford has sat on the Board of the Banff Television Festival and was a founder of the National Screen Institute.

He’s also a founding partner in Film Frontiers, Filmwest Associates, Great North Productions, and Clearwater Media. As an executive producer, Radford founded the NFB’s Northwest Studio in Edmonton.

He’s received 10 major national or international awards for his work, including two Geminis, as well as eight best director awards at the Alberta Film and Television Awards.
