eOne to bring Stanley Kubrick projects to TV

Entertainment One is teaming with the U.K.’s Philco Films to develop and produce Stanley Kubrick’s Downslope and God Fearing Man for TV.

Attached to the projects at Philco’s end are Philip Hobbs and Steve Lanning. Hobbs, who was the late Kubrick’s son-in-law, worked on several of his projects, including Full Metal Jacket. Lanning’s producer credits include The Secret Garden and The World of Eddie Weary.

Downslope was written by Kubrick and is based on a true story by Civil War historian Shelby Foote, and follows the activities of Confederate Army colonel John S. Mosby.

And God Fearing Man, based on a screenplay by Kubrick and adapted for TV by Brit screenwriter Stephen Clarke, tells the true story of Canadian Herbert Emerson Wilson, a minister and notorious safecracker who, by his own account, stole $15 million during his criminal career during the Prohibition era.

On eOne’s end the project is being overseen by  Michael Rosenberg and Adam Blumber. Bill Kelman will exec produce.

eOne will handle worldwide rights for the projects in all media.
