Montreal game developer Minority Media has brought FanTrust Entertainment Strategies on board to expand the audience for its Papo & Yo game for the PlayStation platform.
Catherine Warren’s FanTrust Entertainment will build the community for a game that mixes visuals, music and magical realism to tackle the complicated issue of alcoholism, with the consumption of toxic frogs as a metaphor.
“FanTrust was a natural choice for us to grow and support international audiences at the intersection of social media, gaming and meaningful gameplay,” Minority Media chief business development officer Catherine Bainbridge said in a statement.
Papo & Yo gamers play the role of a boy named Quico trying to save the life of his best friend, the massive Monster addicted to the toxic frogs that infest their village.
When Monster doesn’t eat the poison frogs lurking in this 3D puzzle adventure, Monster is Quico’s pal.
But when he devours them, he becomes terrible and violent.
“Minority Media gives its audience something to really sink its teeth into, games based on the best and worst of human nature, profound personal relationships and intractable fears. This is the stuff of sharing and of memories that we look for — and what makes for a vibrant community experience online,” Warren said in her own statement.
