eOne strikes first Asian distrib partnership with UEK

Entertainment One has entered into its first Asian distribution partnership with United Entertainment Korea for a multi-year agreement.

As part of the deal, UEK will handle all media rights – theatrical, home video, digital and TV – for eOne’s international home entertainment titles in South Korea.

“As we continue to expand our global distribution network, it’s essential that we build strong partnerships with local industry leaders like UEK. We continue to seek new strategic opportunities around the world to exploit our content on a multi-platform basis. We’re confident that UEK will be a very strong partner for us in this new territory,” said eOne filmed entertainment president Patrice Theroux in a statement.

The first eOne titles to be released in theatres under the new partnership are Dragon Age and Mass Effect, both based on the role-playing video games of the same names, respectively, from Alberta-based video game developer BioWare.

eOne Television International will continue to handle television content in that territory, and eOne Films International will continue to offer their slate of films to buyers and distributors in that territory.

UEK, helmed by president and former SPHE Korea managing director Peter Woo, also exclusively distributes home entertainment product for Sony Pictures, NBC Universal and 20 th Century Fox, in addition to handling theatrical release of indie films from around the world.
