CBC extends hunt for Best Recipes Ever host

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has extended its host hunt for the fifth season of food series Best Recipes Ever.

After announcing the imminent departure of current host Kary Osmond last month, the public broadcaster has extended the application deadline for the position to Aug. 17.

Interested parties are asked to submit a five-minute video “highlighting your personality and your cooking.”

The successful candidate will replace Osmond for the season beginning Jan. 13, 2013.

“Kary has been a wonderful addition to the CBC daytime family, and we’d like to thank her for her contribution to the show over the past three incredibly successful seasons,” said CBC head of factual entertainment Jennifer Dettman, in a statement. “We wish Kary the best in her next endeavors, and we’re looking forward to working with our partners at [Canadian publication] Canadian Living to find a new face for the Best Recipes Ever brand.”

The series is the most-watched daily food program in Canada, according to the CBC, and begins its fourth season, the last with Osmond hosting, on Sept. 17.
