Canadian actresses Sara Canning and Catherine O’Hara have been added to the cast for Sex and Sunsets, from director Jeremiah Chechik and producer Serendipity Point Films.

They join True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten for the Canadian indie based on a screenplay by Megan Martin adapted from the novel by Tim Sandlin.

The Vampire Diaries‘ Canning will play the love attraction of a failed writer (Kwanten), with O’Hara in the role of an estranged mother.

Canning earlier starred in Primeval: New World, a Canadian spin-off of the Primeval sci-fi series from U.K. producer Impossible Pictures.

Sex and Sunsets will start shooting in Banff and Los Angeles on August 20.
