Former CBC exec Jennifer Stewart moves to ACCT

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television announced Wednesday the appointment of ex-CBC exec Jennifer Stewart as director of marketing and development.

“Jennifer’s experience in the private and public sectors, in both sales and screen productions, is an ideal fit for the Academy today,” said ACCT CEO Stephenson in a statement.

Stewart has worked in program sales, acquisitions, development and co-production, for companies including BBC Worldwide, ITV, CBS, Disney and NBC Universal.

Most recently, she was senior director of acquisitions and development with CBC in the content planning division.

While at the CBC, Stewart also worked to develop the Canadian feature film block, part of pubcaster’s feature film initiative, as executive director.

The organization Wednesday also announced that Suzan Ayscough will officially take the post of communications director, after filling the post on an interim basis.

The Academy has undergone a series of changes in the recent months, in an effort to revitalize and restructure the organization’s strategy.

The reshaping has included replacing the Academy’s board of national industry reps with a smaller board of Toronto players, and, most recently, introducing a newly created National Advisory Council stocked with industry heavyweights from across the country.

Both Stewart and Ayscough take their posts effective immediately, reporting to Stephenson.
