Entertainment One has acquired the worldwide rights to upcoming rom-com The F Word, from director Michael Dowse (Goon).
Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks) are starring in the Canadian indie film, which reteams Dowse with exec producer Jesse Shapira and producer David Gross, who both worked on Goon.
The F Word, written by Elan Mastai (The Samaritan), follows two twentysomethings who meet and hit it off at a party, and try to be “just friends” because the girl has a long-term boyfriend.
“The F Word is a romantic coming-of-age comedy that will resonate with audiences across the globe. Daniel Radcliffe is a gifted actor with a committed fan base. As we continue to grow our division, it’s our ideal scenario: talented young filmmakers, brilliant lead and huge international appeal,” said eOne Film International managing director Sally Caplan, in a statement.
Caplan in November was appointed to her newly created role when eOne moved headquarters for its international film sales operation from Toronto to London, with a mandate to handle more mainstream movies and build relationships with film producers in Europe and internationally.
The F Word is slated to begin production next month in Toronto.
eOne will handle The F Word‘s theatrical release in the U.K. and Canada.
UTA and Jamie Feldman will handle the sale of U.S. rights to the film.
