CW’s Beauty and the Beast books into Cinespace’s Kipling studio

CBS Television Studios’ Beauty and the Beast has booked into Cinespace’s Kipling studio in west Toronto to shoot from August through to Christmas.

The Kristin Kreuk-starring drama based on the fairytale classic is co-produced by Take 5 Productions and Whizbang Productions, and has been picked up by Showcase in Canada and CW stateside.

Whizbang’s Frank Siracusa is producing, with Jennifer Levin, Sherri Cooper, Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders executive producing.

Kreuk plays a homicide detective who years before witnessed the murder of her mother and could have been killed as well had a beast, played by Jay Ryan, not saved her.

Canadian-born Kreuk was last on CW in Smallville, which was shot in Vancouver.

Beauty and the Beast is based loosely the 1980s CBS drama of the same name that starred Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton.
