Sandra Oh and Nia Vardalos are set to star in 33 Liberty Lane, a comedy about four friends who set up a phone sex company.
Emily Watson and Melora Hardin are also on board the film, which will be shot in Winnipeg.
Writer Stephen Ayres penned the script for producers Su Armstrong (Good Will Hunting) and Brian Rosen (Ferngully) for Australian prodco Tree.
U.K. director Peter Hewitt is set to direct the film, which is slated to begin shooting in June or July, for a delivery pegged to Sundance 2013.
The film was developed with financing from Australia’s Screen NSW’s Aurora screenwriting program.
33 Liberty Lane will be shot with support of Manitoba Film and Music and Winnipeg-based indie producer Buffalo Gal Pictures.
Denmark’s Level K, which has the international sales rights, will shop the project to buyers in Cannes next month.
Elsewhere, three-part crime drama Thorne: Scaredy Cat, which Oh filmed back in 2010 on hiatus from Grey’s Anatomy, is slated to air on U.S. network Encore in June.
David Morrissey (The Walking Dead) plays the title role, and Oh plays a troubled detective in the drama, adapted from author Mark Billingham’s novels.
The Canada-U.K. co-pro is directed by Stephen Hopkins.
