Hot off the heels of directing Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, which saw him rub shoulders with the likes of Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson and Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson, Brad Peyton is set to bring a DC Comics character to life.
This week, Warner Bros. tapped the Newfoundland-based director to helm its big screen adaptation of Lobo, which has been in production limbo since Guy Ritchie abandoned it in favour of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
Lobo began his days in the DC universe in the 1980s as an alien mercenary and a rarely used villain.
But since his 1990s rebirth as an anti-hero biker who is known for graphic violence and his sick sense of humour, he has become one of DC’s most popular characters.
Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman are producing the film alongside Peyton.
Peyton is an alumnus of the Cineplex Entertainment Film Program’s Directors’ Lab, and previously directed the short film Evelyn: The Cutest Evil Dead Girl through the Short Dramatic Film Program.
He is repped by Verve and Piekoff Law.
