Cookie Jar Entertainment pacts with U.S. Hispanic channel on new projects

Cookie Jar Entertainment is getting into business with Sorpresa!, the U.S. Spanish language kids channel.

The Toronto-based animation producer has an agreement to partner with Florida-based Olympusat, the Sorpresa!-parent, to develop new projects.

And the business pact also allows Olympusat to cherry-pick classic TV series from the Cookie Jar vault, including The Busy World of Richard Scarry and Mary Kate and Ashley: In Action, which have already been dubbed in Spanish.

“Our partnership with Olympusat is a powerful reminder that the strength of Cookie Jar’s library serves as the backbone to channels like Olympusat’s ¡Sorpresa!,” Toper Taylor, president & COO of Cookie Jar Entertainment, said in a statement.

The Sorpresa! channel is available south of the border to around 1.5 million cable TV subscribers, and features original and acquired Spanish-language programming from the US, Latin America and elsewhere worldwide.
