NHL online shorts to provide playoff entertainment bonus

MTV Canada’s Aliya-Jasmine Sovani is to host twice-daily, seven-day-a-week digital video shorts series from the National Hockey League during its current post-season championship round.

The two- to three-minute Stanley Cup Countdown videos, to stream on the web throughout the NHL playoffs, aim to engage hockey fans online, even after their local team is removed from cup contention.

“Hockey fans know that the Stanley Cup playoffs represent hockey at its best, but we needed to provide ways to help them stay engaged long after their favourite team has been eliminated,” NHL chief operating officer John Collins said Tuesday.

Sovani’s video shorts will provide the usual nightly game highlights, but also entertain with player pranks, wacky goal celebrations and celebrity sightings.

Stanley Cup Countdown will stream on NHL.com, NHL Mobile, on the NHL’s Twitter site and Facebook page. It will also run on website’s operated by the NHL’s digital partners.
