Donald Henderson has been appointed president and CEO of Interactive Ontario.
Henderson will move over from bitHeads Inc., where he is currently VP, legal and business affairs, and general counsel.
He has also served as COO at both Bedlam Games and Groove Media in Toronto.
“[Henderson]’s experience and guidance will allow IO to build its capacity as a key driver in supporting the ongoing growth of Ontario’s successful interactive media industry,” said IO board chairman Mark Bishop, in a statement.
“Over the past several years, I have seen IO affirm its position as the voice of interactive companies in Ontario. Interactive Ontario has experienced great success with its first-class conferences and programming. I want to build on this history of success and ensure that we continue to find new ways to deliver value for our stakeholders,” said Henderson in a statement.
IO VP and general manager Max Berdowski had taken on an expanded role over the last several months, following the departure of Ian Kelso, and will now be in charge of IO business development.
Kelso left the organization in December, to become the CEO of the Canadian Interactive Alliance.
Interactive Ontario has made a mark in Ontario with a series of digital media conferences, including X-Summit, IN: the Interactive Exchange, GameON: Finance and INplay.
