The U.S. ReelzChannel network has picked up the Canadian scripted drama XIII from Prodigy Pictures.

The action thriller, which was co-produced by Luc Besson’s French production company EuropaCorp Television, stars Stuart Townsend and Aisha Tyler and was shot in Toronto.

The series features Townsend as a former secret operative, XIII, who loses his memory as he is hunted by a dark anti-government organization, and must find clues to his identity.

Tyler plays a government agent and XIII’s most loyal ally.

ReelzChannel will preview XIII this coming week, ahead of a June 2012 series premiere.

The Canadian-made series is based on French writer Jean Van Hamme’s graphic novels.

The Canadian-French co-produced drama also stars Virginie Ledoyen, Caterina Murino, Greg Bryk, Stephen McHattie and Ted Atherton.
