Toronto indie rep cinema Projection Booth has inked a output deal with Tribeca Films to become the exclusive Toronto screen for movie titles from the Tribeca Film Festival’s distribution company.
The distribution deal will kick off March 2 with a Projection Booth date for writer/director/actor Edward Burns’ Newlyweds, which was the closing night at the 2011 Tribeca festival.
The New York City-based festival is using a day-and-date national VOD release and limited theatrical release model, and the Toronto market is now part of that cross-platform distribution effort.
Projection Booth is also set to screen the Dutch biopic Black Butterflies, by director Paula van der Oest, in late March.
Tribeca Films has been a frequent distributor of Canadian films into the U.S. market, having picked up The Bang Bang Club, with Ryan Phillippe, Malin Akerman and Taylor Kitsch, and Deborah Chow’s Zach Braff-starrer The High Cost of Living.
