Kris Wood named Stargate Canada president

Kris Wood has been appointed president of the Canadian arm of U.S. visual effects co Stargate Studios.

Wood will oversee the company’s two studios in Vancouver and Toronto.

Stargate Vancouver, which was established in 2001, provides visual effects services, and the recently opened Stargate Toronto launched with 15 producers, supervisors and artists doing visual effects, compositing, 3D and graphics, headed up by Wood.

“As a native of Toronto, Kris has an intimate understanding of the Ontario entertainment community,” said Stargate CEO Sam Nicholson in a statement.

“Under his direction, Stargate’s Vancouver and Toronto facilities will be integrated into the studio’s global network.”

Previously, Wood was CEO and founder of Tellavision, a computer graphics and visual effects firm.
