Toronto’s Entertainment One (eOne) is looking to boost the profile of its Canadian TV division with the naming of former eOne Television COO Margaret O’Brien as its president.
In the newly created position, O’Brien will take on all responsibility for the TV group in Canada with a “special focus on developing eOne’s factual division,” according to a statement from eOne.
“I believe this is a great opportunity in a very exciting time for the Canadian television business. eOne has enjoyed remarkable growth in the last four years, and my goal is to increase that success with the exciting resources available in Canada,” said O’Brien in eOne’s statement.
O’Brien is a veteran of the Canadian TV scene, having been with eOne in an executive role since 2008, and before that with Barna-Alper Productions as its CFO and COO. She also serves on the CMPA board and the Board for Women in Film and Television – Toronto.
The appointment comes after eOne announced last week it is stepping away from the sales review process it initiated last fall.
