Entertainment One (eOne) announced Wednesday the start of production on doc series Perfect Storms: Disasters that Changed the World.

The 6 x 60-minute series, scheduled to air in early 2013 on History Television in Canada, investigates major and improbable disasters across the world, like the triple disaster (earthquake, typhoon and fire) Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, the Great Galveston Hurricane of 1900 and the Battle of Moscow in 1941. Steve Gamestar, director of development for specialist factual at eOne, is series producer.

In other eOne factual news, the distributor announced a North American home on History Television for The Great Escape: Secrets Revealed (pictured),  a doc co-produced with U.K.-based Wildfire Television. The series, which aired in the U.K. on Channel 4 in 2011, under is set to air in Canada in 2012.

For both series, eOne is handling distribution for all media in territories outside the U.K.
