Abhishek Rastogi, former managing director of Cinesavvy, has launched a new Canadian distribution outfit, Toronto-based 108 Media.
Rastogi, as CEO, on Monday unveiled 108 Media with its first deal after acquiring all the English-language rights to the Korean animated film Leafie: A Hen Into the Wild (pictured).
The distributor plans a North American theatrical release later this year for Leafie, which comes from Myung Films and is based on a best-selling Korean novel.
The cinema roll-out will be followed by a release on digital platforms.
Nathaniel Warsh will serve as president of distribution at 108 Media, which will have its coming out party in Berlin and focus on Canadian and foreign distribution of films, TV, gaming and mobile content.
“Our strategy for 108 Media is a hybrid of a traditional sales model and a transmedia company,” Rastogi, whose 108 Media is backed by private equity, explained in a statement.
