The Canadian teen drama Degrassi has been nominated for best drama series at the upcoming GLAAD Media Awards.
Degrassi, which airs on MuchMusic in Canada and TeenNick in the U.S., will compete against ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, Showtime’s Shameless, and Starz’ Torchwood drama.
“This nomination reinforces our continuing dedication to telling relevant stories about the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community,” Epitome Pictures’ Linda Schuyler, executive producer of the long-running Degrassi franchise, said in a statement.
Degrassi, which is shot in Toronto, has received three earlier GLAAD nominations.
The GLAAD Awards will be handed out in New York on March 24, in Los Angeles on April 21 and in San Francisco on June 2.
