eOne’s Hell on Wheels renewed for second season

AMC has renewed Entertainment One’s Hell on Wheels for a second season.

The premiere of the post-American Civil War drama delivered the second-highest ratings for a series debut in AMC’s history, with 4.4 million viewers, according to the U.S.-based network.

Hell on Wheels follows former Confederate soldier Cullen Bohannan, played by Anson Mount, as he tracks the Union soldiers who murdered his wife. He travels west to “Hell on Wheels,” the town that accompanies the construction of the first transcontinental railroad.

EOne announced international sales for the Alberta-filmed series in November, including Latin American, Asia and Africa.

The series was developed by Endemol USA and produced by eOne and Nomadic Pictures. Endemol holds holds European TV rights to the series, while eOne retains the worldwide DVD/Blu-ray, VOD and digital distribution rights.
