CBC developing Rupinder Gill project with Amaze Film + Television

Amaze Film + Television (Call Me Fitz) has sealed a development deal with the CBC for its screen adaptation of the Rupinder Gill comic memoir On the Outside Looking Indian.

The indie producer earlier optioned the book and has now parked the project at the public broadcaster for a possible sitcom.

The next step is to hire a showrunner for the TV adaptation.

On the Outside Looking Indian portrays Gill, a former publicist for then Alliance Atlantis Communications, making up for lost time as an adult by tackling what she wasn’t able to do as a child in a cloistered East Indian Canadian home.

The book option deal was brokered by Toronto’s Jennifer Hollyer Agency and The Rights Factory, acting for Gill.
