Linzi Knight named winner of Shortnonstop fest

The CFC and Shortnonstop Mobile Movie Festival announced Toronto’s Linzi Knight as the festival winner Friday.

The year-round international short film competition, in its fifth year and presented by Telus, showcases short films produced for mobile and online platforms. Winners are selected each quarter by an international jury.

Knight’s film, The Gay Who Wasn’t Gay Enough, is a humourous look at the process of coming out, and stereotypes that exist in everyday activities.

Selected from 10 finalists, Knight will receive a $1500 cash prize and the film will be made available to Telus’ wireless, ASDL and Telus TV video-on-demand clients.

The film will also play at the CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival awards pre-show in June 2012.

Two winners were also chosen for the iThentic Audience Award, due to an extended voting deadline. Gotcha, from Hamilton’s Sandra Loke, along with Toasted, from Rebecca Norris and Kevin Resnick from the U.S., were selected.

The full list of finalists can be accessed through the Shortnonstop Festival’s website.

The deadline for the festival’s next round is April 15, 2012.
