Astral Media’s Harold Greenberg Fund this past year spent $3.6 million investing in new and ongoing English- and French-language film projects, according to the industry fund’s 2010-11 annual report.
That expenditure for the year to Sept. 1, 2011 is up on the $3.4 million invested in Canadian film projects in 2009-10, from early inception to the polish-and-packaging stages.
At the same time, the 2010-11 expenditure is down from the $3.9 million contributed by both the English- and French-language funds in fiscal 2008-09.
Both industry funds have invested to date $77 million in around 3,500 film and TV projects since they were launched in 1984.
In 2010-11, the Harold Greenberg fund got behind 180 projects in all, including Le vendeur, Monsieur Lazhar, and La peur de l’eau on the French side, and Take This Waltz and The Whistleblower (pictured) on the English side.
