Breakthrough Entertainment is getting deeper into the distribution business.

Marina Cordoni, who joined Breakthrough in 2005 to executive produce movies, will now head up an original and third party film acquisition and sales unit as VP of movies.

The Breakthrough slate of films seeking worldwide distribution includes Jayme LaForest and David Fischette’s Gods of Accident, Dancing on the Edge, by writer/director Alexander MacKenzie, and Marcel Grant’s Coffee, Sex, You.

Recent Breakthrough movie credits include director Penelope Buitenhuis’ A Wake, which starred Nicholas Campbell, Martha Burns, Graham Abbey, a coproduction with Six Island Productions.

Breakthrough will represent indie films across the theatrical, broadcast, home entertainment and digital platforms.

Before joining Breakthrough, Cordoni completed executive stints at Norstar Filmed Entertainment, PolyGram Filmed Entertainment and Virgin Vision Entertainment in Britain.
