The cameras are rolling on the Space back-door pilot Borealis, with Ty Olsson, Michelle Harrison and Patrick Gallagher in the lead roles.
The two-hour pilot, created by created by writers Andrew Wreggitt and Andrew Rai Berzins, sees Olsson (pictured) play an ultimate fighter-turned-entrepreneur, Harrison as a misanthropic environmental guerrilla blogger, and Gallagher playing a techno-handy Inuit local trying to make the best of a bad situation.
Slanted Wheel Entertainment and SEVEN24 Films are producing.
The ensemble cast for Borealis also includes Christine Horne, Greyston Holt, Cristina Rosato, Bryan Dick, Mayko Nguyen Paulino Nunes and Karan Oberoi.
The Borealis pilot, shooting in Alberta through mid-November, is set 30 years in the future and portrays a frontier town in the high Arctic – as polar icecaps melt, countries compete for the last vestiges of oil in the region.
The Borealis pilot is executive produced by Jon Slan of Slanted Wheel Entertainment and Tom Cox and Jordy Randall of SEVEN24 Films.
