A stage collapse on the Toronto movie set for Resident Evil 5 has left 16 people, including actors, injured. (See updated story here.)
Constable Wendy Drummond of the Toronto Police Services, 43 Division, on Tuesday said a platform on wheels at Cinespace Film Studios on Kipling Avenue in West Toronto shifted as actors and crew members were moving from one part of the soundstage to another.
The platform, which was around five feet above ground, collapsed, sending 10 of the 16 people affected to a local hospital.
Constable Drummond said none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Most of the injuries involved bumps and bruises, and the worst was a back injury.
Police at 43 Division received an initial call at 7:54 a.m. on Tuesday morning, and attended what they regard as an industrial accident.
The Ministry of Labour will follow up the workplace incident with its own investigation.
A spokesman for Cinespace Film Studios withheld comment until a press statement is issued on Tuesday.
