American independent film producer Ted Hope (21 Grams, The Savages) was in town this weekend to support two new films, Dark Horse and Martha Marcy May Marlene, and to speak with filmmakers as part of the Moguls series in the TIFF Filmmakers Lounge.

Hope is the co-founder of Good Machine, This is That and Double Hope Films and has produced over 60 titles. Last year at TIFF, his film Super (written and directed by James Gunn) was the first sale of last year’s TIFF.

Here, Playback catches up with the high-profile producer to talk about his newest films and the challenges of being an independent producer today.
