Toronto digital distributor Syndicado Inc. has extended its partnership with U.K.-based Journeyman Pictures to include distribution in the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.
Syndicado president Greg Rubidge tells Playback Daily that after a year of working with Journeyman and bringing its catalogue to a number of digital platforms – Vudu, Rogers On Demand, iTunes U.S. and a Netflix deal on the way – their agreement will extend beyond North America.
“The new deal includes titles for iTunes in the U.K. and New Zealand and the renewal will see more titles extended to other markets,” Rubidge says.
Titles included in the deal are The Good Soldier, David vs. Monsanto (pictured), Crips, Buskers, Butterflies, Dad’s in Heaven with Nixon and Tipping Point, and Rubidge adds that he’s on the hunt to distribute more documentaries.
At the moment, Rubidge adds that he’s looking for films with a built-in audience, which covers a range of topics, including environment-focused, history, music and science, to name a few. “Docs typically don’t have a mass audience, but they do come with a passionate audience.”
Going forward, Syndicado will be making a digital distribution push toward other global territories, particularly the U.S. and Europe to penetrate larger markets.
