CMF pours $3.4 million into docs

Sixteen projects have landed funding approval from the Canada Media Fund through its English Point-of-View (POV) Program.

$2.7 million of the allotted funds will go toward TV components and $700,000 for digital media components. Eleven of the 14 projects presented with digital media components will receive CMF coin. The remaining two projects will be using VOD and digital distribution as additional platforms.

Saskatchewan-based Karma Film Inc. received the highest amount of money ($350,000) for its Election Fever convergent project, followed by Toronto’s Diatribe Pictures ($339,178) for Rise Again, along with another Toronto prodco Barefoot Bandit Productions ($294,000) for Fly Colt Fly.

Other approved projects include An Ill Wind (Dark Lullabies Inc., Moonray Studios), Arctic Defenders (John Walker Productions Ltd.), El Huaso (The Handshake Productions Inc.), The Exhibition (Jove Pictures Inc.), Hue (Honalee Productions Inc.), Indie, with Child (Les Productions Catbird Inc.), The Lost Highway (Insurgent Project 1 Ltd.), Mirror Mirror (Dark Lullabies Inc.), My Astronomers (Inigo Films Inc.), Pyongyang Express (Zarathustra Films Inc.), The Waiting Room (Périphéria Productions Inc.), When Jews Were Funny (Sudden Storm Entertainment Ltd.) and When the Trumpet Sounds (Parabola Films).
