Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth installment of the Resident Evil franchise from Canadian co-producer Don Carmody, is to be shot in Toronto at Cinespace’s Kipling studio facility.

Production on Resident Evil 5 is tentatively set to run from Oct. 10 to Dec. 23, ahead of a scheduled 2D and 3D release by Sony Screen Gems on Sept. 14, 2012.

Resident Evil: Afterlife, the fourth installment directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, went on to make around $300 million in worldwide ticket receipts in 2010.

Anderson is to write and direct Resident Evil: Retribution, with Milla Jovovich returning as the main lead of the video game to movie adaptation, and Glen McPherson serving as director of photography.
