The North American DVD distribution rights to Nelvana Enterprises’ CGI-animated series Babar and the Adventures of Badou has gone to Entertainment One.
The agreement, which includes the DVD rights to 78 episodes of the classic Babar series, follows the broadcast bow of the updated Babar and the Adventures of Badou series on YTV, Disney Junior stateside and elsewhere internationally.
Entertainment One will precede the planned 2012 DVD release of Babar and the Adventures of Badou, which focuses on the elephant king’s grandson, with the release of the first three classic Babar DVD releases this fall.
“A beloved property like Babar is truly something special, and its universal appeal among parents and children across generations is unique,” Michael E. Rosenberg, president of Entertainment One U.S., said in a statement.
The kids TV home entertainment deal was hammered out by Sejin Park, vice president of worldwide acquisitions for Entertainment One, and Bonnie MacVicar, senior manager of home entertainment and digital media for Nelvana Enterprises.
