Teletoon Canada has announced its fall TV lineup, including five Teletoon original productions: Crash Canyon, Best Ed, My Life Me, Meta Jets and Detentionaire
Overall, the main Teletoon net adds eight new shows for its main channel, one new show on Teletoon at Night, and 10 classic series for Teletoon Retro.
The main channel’s new shows include six animated series, with two new-comers in the reality and game show category, Hole in the Wall and a show under the working title Beyond Human.
FremantleMedia’s Hole in the Wall, set to air throughout the week at 8:30 p.m., and on Sundays at 7:30 a.m., is described by the network as one of the “funniest and wettest live-action game shows on the planet,” while Beyond Human, produced by UK-based Off the Fence, sees host and contortionist Daniel Browning Smith travel the world in search of real people with super human abilities. It is set to air at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays.
Also new is a modern and revamped version of The Looney Tunes Show, which will air throughout the week at 6:30 p.m.
Targeting the younger demographic is new cartoon Best Ed, produced by Toronto-based animation studio 9 Story Entertainment, which follows the unlikely friendship between a dog and squirrel, and will air at 7:30 a.m. on Fridays and 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
Debuting on Saturdays at 7 p.m., before Beyond Human, is Young Justice, a half-hour animated series based on the adventures of kid superheroes Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis.
Taking the 2:30 p.m. slot on Saturdays is the manga/anime-inspired My Life Me is a teen-targeted half-hour animated show distributed by Classic Media, which follows female protagonist Birch Small through life at a cooperative high school.
At 3:30 p.m. Meta Jets airs, a half-hour show about an animated elite flying team protecting the world from evil, produced in joint cooperation between South-Korean-based Sunwoo Entertainment and Cookie Jar Entertainment.
Additionally, Teletoon is airing a five-ep sneak peak of Nelvana’s Detentionaire, an action-based animated series, from Sept. 12 to 16.
Teletoon is also bringing back series’ Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Jimmy Two-Shoes, Johnny Test, Ben 10: Ultimate Alien and Adventure Time with Finn and Jake.
Teletoon at Night has added one new show to its line-up this fall with Breakthrough Entertainment’s Crash Canyon, an original production developed by The Simpsons’ Joel Cohen. The half-hour animated show is based in Alberta, giving it distinct Canadian appeal. The night time line-up will include new episodes of animated spy thriller Archer and comedy cartoon Futurama.
Teletoon Retro adds classic series My Pet Monster, Ned’s Newt, Felix the Cat, Tom & Jerry Kids, Looney Tunes, Garfield and Friends, For Better or For Worse, Jem, King of the Hill and the Adam West-starring Batman.
