CFC’s Patterson moves to Emily Carr

The CFC’s Barry Patterson is going back to school.

The well-known communications executive is leaving his role at the CFC and heading out west, joining Emily Carr University of Art and Design as its executive director of communications.

Patterson begins his new job on Aug. 29, where he’ll be charged with shaping and building up the Vancouver-based school’s brand and reputation.

He heads to Emily Carr with more than 15 years of experience in senior communications and marketing roles, most recently serving as the marketing and communications exec for the Canadian Film Centre. There, he spearheaded its rebranding as well as all national and international marketing, communications and outreach strategies.

Prior to that, Patterson worked with CBC Television, Astral Media and Famous Players.
