After the success of the Canadian Interactive Showcase’s launch at INplay 2011, industry org Interactive Ontario is bringing it back for its flagship conference X-Summit this fall.
The Showcase will take place during the conference, providing an opportunity for companies to pitch their crossmedia projects, products or services to an audience of investors, prospective partners and industry peers.
Max Berdowski, IO’s VP of business development and communications, says the first Showcase drew strong interest when it debuted at the org’s kids interactive conference INplay in May. CIS will also return for the org’s GameON: Finance conference in January.
Projects must be appropriate for crossmedia and interactive markets, and will be considered for inclusion based on originality and market readiness.
“The project can’t be in an early stage of development, it has to be either just out in the market or ready to go to market,” says Berdowski.
The five projects presented at the inaugural showcase at INplay this past spring included Pixton Comics Inc.’s comic-making app (B.C.), Soma Creates’ iPhone app Olivia Paints (Alberta), Tactica Interactive’s speech therapy iPhone games (Manitoba), Kidobi’s customizable tech for kids online content (Ontario) and customizable Po-mo’s customizable projection software (Manitoba).
The deadline to submit projects to the Showcase is Sept. 9.
X-Summit is scheduled for Oct. 24-26 in Toronto.
