Arc Productions hires L.A. representative

Toronto 3D cartoon factory Arc Productions has hired Stephanie Denton to head up its Los Angeles office as SVP of sales and business development.

Denton comes to the former Starz Animation Toronto studio after executive stints at indie producers like Lionsgate Entertainment, Initial Entertainment Group and Lakeshore International.

The appointment was made by Arc Productions president and COO Jeff Young, who has led the restructuring of the animation producer after it was taken over by a Canadian ownership group.

Young recently replaced EVP and head of studio David Steinberg, who led the studio since its opening in 2007.

Denton will be charged with securing more service work for Arc Productions, while the company also looks to do more proprietary animation projects.

The Arc Productions slate currently includes partnering with Platinum Films UK to make a 3D animated TV series titled Matt Hatter Chronicles.

The studio earlier animated Gnomeo & Juliet for Miramax Films and 9 for Universal/Focus Features.

Starz remains a shareholder in the Toronto animation studio.
