Tricon Films & Television has picked up the international distribution rights to Metal Evolution.

The 11 x 60-minute series from Toronto’s Banger Films explores the history of heavy metal music and also had its timely U.S. premiere Tuesday on VH1 Classic – a day the channel also declared National Metal Day.

Banger Films founders Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn are no strangers to the heavy metal scene – their first film, Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey premiered at TIFF in 2005, and they followed up with Global Metal, Iron Maiden: Flight 666 and most recently, the feature doc Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage.
