Toronto-based producer/distributor Tricon Films & Television has sold 12 documentaries and one-off specials to broadcasters in Sweden, Australia, Mexico and other territories.

Tricon’s distribution division has sold , a one-hour special on Gordon Thomas, an 87-year-old singer waiting for his big break, to SVT Sweden.

In Australia, VEA Australia picked up a raft of documentaries, including Where’s My Goat?, which details a man’s journey to find the goats he’d been gifting in the name of charity; Among The Missing, which explore America’s Vietnam POW/MIA movement; and Catfight, which explores why and how women sabotage one another.

VEA also picked up Murid, the story of a young man drawn into a deeply mystical Islamic sect, and Raising Cassidy, about a woman fighting to get back the child that she delivered while addicted to crack cocaine.

Origo in Hungary has picked up National Vampire, an exploration of the culture (and sub-cultures) of the vampire lifestyle, while Once TV in Mexico has acquired Original Kin (3 x 60 minutes), which tells three adoptees’ stories of their search for their biological parents; Garbage, a doc on how the family household has become one of the most ferocious environmental predators of our time; and Wednesday Nights, a doc on divorced couples learning how to evolve into new families.

Lastly, Racing Around the World Alone, a one-off exploring the Vendée Globe race to sail 27,000 miles around the world, has sold to Spafax for Air Canada and MacTV for BBC ALBA (Scottish/Gaelic-speaking UK).
