Global’s Rookie Blue has graduated to its second season with a strong debut.

Although not matching its series premiere one year ago, the police drama earned 1.4 million viewers nationally (2+) to win its Thursday 10 p.m. timeslot, according to BBM Canada overnight data. When it debuted on June 28, 2010, the episode earned 1.8 million viewers.

It was the second Canadian series premiere of the week on Global, with Combat Hospital debuting on Tuesday night at 10 p.m. with 2 million viewers nationally (2+).

The series is also broadcast by ABC in the U.S.
