Stephenson named ACCT interim CEO

The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television is looking for a new leader after the departure of CEO Sara Morton.

The Genies and Geminis organizers on Thursday said former Toronto International Film Festival exec Helga Stephenson has been named interim CEO as the search for a new CEO starts.

The move follows Sara Morton, who has held the top job at the agency since 2007, resigning on May 6, according to an Academy spokeswoman.

“It is with great pleasure we welcome Helga Stephenson to our ranks and we look forward to the next period as a time of productive progression to a stronger and more vibrant Academy,” vice-chair Charles Ohayon said.
