A recent Ontario trade mission to California has netted around $40 million in entertainment content to be produced locally by American United Entertainment.
The US film financier and mini studio has inked an agreement with Ontario Technology Corridor Business Development to bring three to four upcoming feature films, TV series or digital media projects to the province for production.
The US company already has in development Your Perfect Angel, a romantic comedy to be directed by Donald Petrie (Miss Congeniality).
“Toronto’s an incredible city to do feature films and digital media, and thanks to the Ontario Technology Corridor and their many government and private sector partners, we¹ve had our eyes opened to the possibilities for American United Entertainment expansions in gaming, special effects and social media,” Robert Rodriguez, CEO of American United Entertainment, said in a statement.
Rodriguez met last February with Ontario public and private sector players on a trade mission that also included meetings at San Francisco’s Game Developers Conference 2011.
The Hollywood investment is the latest to come to Ontario after Ubisoft, Electronic Arts and Capcom Entertainment earlier took advantage of provincial tax credits and other financial inducements to set up locally.
