Jay Ingram bids farewell to Daily Planet

After 16 years of co-hosting Daily Planet, Jay Ingram is filming his final show and Discovery Channel is bidding him farewell with a one-hour special.

Daily Planet: Jay’s Last Show will be a retrospective and celebration of Ingram’s contributions to Discovery’s flagship series over the years.

“Any way you look at it, 16 years is a long time,” said Ingram in a statement. “We have been so lucky at Daily Planet – from the beginning – to be able to cover amazing stories from all over the world. This show is going to be a celebration of that. And a party.”

Viewers are also invited to share their memories and opinions at the newly launched page DiscoveryChannel.ca/JaysLastShow, some of which will be read or played during the special. The page will also house an interactive map that highlights Ingram’s travels, photo galleries and behind-the-scenes interviews.

Ingram may be leaving Daily Planet, but he will be stepping into a new contributor role within Discovery’s factual channels portfolio, the details of which will be announced at a later date.

The special will be taped live at Toronto’s Masonic Temple and will air June 5 on Discovery Channel Canada.
