In Cannes market action, Alliance Films has picked up Walter Salles’ adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s classic novel On The Road from French mini-major MK2.

The $25 million film, an MK2 production with Film4 and Videofilmes, stars Sam Riley as Sal Paradise and and Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty.

The ensemble cast includes Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen and Amy Adams.

Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope is co-producing On The Road, which has already sold into a number of world markets, including the UK, Germany, New Zealand and the Benelux.
