BBC Kids, newly acquired by Knowledge Network, has hired Lisa Purdy as its new channel director.
“Lisa’s television and digital media experience will guide BBC Kids into an exciting new phase,” Knowledge Network president and CEO Rudy Buttignol said Monday in a statement.
“Lisa is a welcome addition to our team, and I look forward to working with her to relaunch an all new BBC Kids channel,” he added.
The British Columbia public educational broadcaster will run the BBC-branded digital kids channel through a joint venture with BBC Worldwide.
BBC Kids will relaunch on Friday, May 13, with commercial-free programming round the clock.
The new BBC Kids schedule will include shows such like Big Babies, Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, M.I. High and new comedies Sadie J and Dead Gorgeous.
