Worldwide Bag Media adds head of development

The Vancouver-based prodco behind The Shopping Bags and Anna & Kristina’s Grocery Bag have added to its executive team with the addition of Heather Hawthorn-Doyle as head of development and executive producer.

Hawthorn-Doyle, Worldwide Bag Media president Anna Wallner and CEO Kristina Matisic have already created their first new series together, currently in funded development.

“I’m honoured to help take such a forward-thinking company to the next level,” says Hawthorn-Doyle, who served as one of the early series producers of The Shopping Bags. “It’s like a television homecoming of sorts.”

Hawthorn-Doyle brings experience from Omni Film Productions, where she started the lifestyle division, and was responsible for developing and producing Word Travels for OLN and Nat Geo Wild. Other credits include Pure Design, She’s Crafty and Smart Cookies. She also produced CBC’s award-winning youth documentary series, Make Some Noise.

Hawthorn-Doyle says in a statement, “This is just the beginning of a multi-program, multi-platform adventure for a team that speaks the same language.”

Anna & Kristina’s Grocery Bag airs on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network in the U.S. and the W Network in Canada.
