Sturla Gunnarson’s Force of Nature: The David Suzuki Movie, a film based on the veteran Canadian scientist and environmental activist, earned the international award of excellence Saturday night at the Canadian Environmental Media Awards.
Force of Nature is produced by Entertainment One in co-production with the NFB and in association with CBC.
The show earlier won the top audience documentary award at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The eco-themed awards, presented and handed out at the Green Living Show in Toronto by Rachelle Lefevre (Twilight, Casino Jack), also saw the documentary series Down2Earth, Barbara Hager’s search for local solutions to man-made environmental problems, earn the best TV series award.
And the best documentary awards were shared by Peter Mettler’s Petropolis: Aerial Perspectives on the Alberta Tar Sands, about the controversial Candian energy project, and Land of Destiny, Brett Story’s portrait of a working-class city in paralysis in an era of globalization.
