SMPIA launches AR game for Multi-Platforum event

The Saskatchewan Motion Picture Industry Association is kicking off its digital Multi-Platforum conference in Regina today with the launch of Multi-Platforum – The Game.

Created in collaboration with Saskatchewan’s Talking Dog Studios, the augmented reality (AR) game uses the player’s iPhone or Android phone camera to enable game play.

Players must use the view finder on their phones’ cameras to spot logos of the companies and associations participating in the conference, which will be digitally superimposed on the event’s actual environs through the camera view.

Of course, there can only be one winner. The individual who finds the most logos will take home an AR package worth $500 from Talking Dog. The contest will continue until April 21.

“Our Multi-PlatFORUM conference is all about creating digital content that can provide engaging experiences for audiences,” said SMPIA digital media initiative manager Nova Alberts in a statement. “By integrating conference delegates into Multi-Platforum – The Game, we can perfectly illustrate this concept and showcase Saskatchewan companies at the same time.”

To get in the game, iPhone and Android users at the conference and around the world can head over to bit.ly/multiplatforum on their devices.
